Aspire’s Ski the Valley Feb. 28

Once again this year, Holiday Valley will be hosting a major fundraiser to benefit the not-for-profit organization Aspire of Western New York, Inc., which provides person-centered, innovative programs and services designed to give nearly 3,400 children and adults with developmental disabilities opportunities to fully participate in their communities and bring them to their best potential.

Tom Sy, Aspire’s president and CEO, notes the importance of this fundraiser to the future of the organization:

“The majority of our funding comes from New York State and for the last six years that funding has been cut or level funded. Such an environment puts tremendous stress on our agency and select programs, so all fundraising dollars help decrease that stress.”

Because Aspire provides services throughout Erie, Chautauqua and Niagara counties, being “able to expose our agency and our sponsors to the thousands of skiers on a Sunday at Holiday Valley is an added bonus.” And, he added, “the last three years we have also made adaptive skiing available to individuals we serve and to see their excitement and that of their families makes it all the more worthwhile.”

Aspire’s Ski the Valley Event, presented by sponsor Independent Health, happens this year on Sunday, Feb. 28 from 12 to 6 p.m. on the top floor of Holiday Valley’s Main Lodge. The event gives registrants all the skiing, snowboarding and/or tubing fun that a day at the resort provides, as well as a catered buffet from noon to 2 p.m., live music, a basket raffle and more.

While the event itself spans six hours, those purchasing lift tickets can take to the slopes all day long (8:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. for tubing).

Aspire will provide a free shuttle to and from the Holiday Valley Tubing Park.

Adult lift and meal tickets for the event cost $70; junior lift and meal tickets (for ages 7-11) are $65. The Tubing Park option is $35 for unlimited tubing fun and the meal. For adults and children 7 and up who prefer the meal-only option, it’s available for $25. Children 6 and under dine free.

The deadline for ticket purchases is Friday, Feb. 19. Register today at, or call special events coordinator Amanda Rosenberg at 716-984-0659.
