Mardi Gras and Winter Carnival weekend has arrived, and there’s a ton of fun lined up to keep you entertained from morning to night.

To kick things off in style, head to Ellicottville Brewing Company (28 Monroe St.) on Friday night for the Junior Bacchus Ball, where a Mardi Gras king and queen will be crowned. Winners will be decided by applause meter, so don’t miss out on your chance to make your choice! Tickets for the ball are $20 (available at the door) and include food and entertainment; there will also be a cash bar. Attire is ski casual.

On Saturday, don’t even think about missing the Village’s Mardi Gras parade, which starts at 6:30 p.m. Check out festive floats and a parade with all the fixins’ marching down the main drag of the village.

Be sure to bring some non-perishables to contribute to the Holiday Valley Ski Patrol’s annual food drive for the Ellicottville Food Pantry. Patrollers will be collecting donations during the parade, giving out strands of beads in exchange for donations. A Food Pantry dropbox will also be located at the Ellicottville Tops Market on Friday from 5 to 9 p.m.

Round out the weekend full of family fun at Holiday Valley’s Winter Carnival. Everything from cookouts to face painting to the new family-Olympic games are yours for the taking both Saturday and Sunday. Plus there’s the awesomely-fun Snobar — a bar made, literally, out of snow — with a DJ blaring beats from the top.

Of course, no Holiday Valley Winter Carnival is complete without its own Mardi Gras costume parade (down Mardi Gras, of course!) and the Dummy Downhill, where hand-built, dummy creations mounted on skis are directed down the Yodeler slope. Both take place Sunday.

Fun, entertainment, friendly competition, food and music are in your future—Mardi Gras and Winter Carnival showcases EVL at its best. Buckle up and enjoy the ride!
