Olean Home Show April 8-10

Are home improvement projects on your to-do list this spring? If so, you won’t want to miss the The Greater Olean Area Home Show, sponsored by Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce (GOACC), happening this weekend, April 8-10.
“The Greater Olean Area Home Show is an excellent opportunity for home consumers to view the latest innovations, compare products and visit with experts,” said Meme Yanetsko, Chief Operating Officer of the GOACC. “At this year’s show, you’ll find a wide variety of products and ideas for the do-it-yourselfers, interior decorating trends, contractor services, energy-saving products, lawn and garden equipment, room additions, replacement and new windows, doors, siding, roofing, fireplaces, bathrooms, kitchens and much more.
Get in the know with a selection of demonstrations and seminars all weekend long.
Friday’s schedule includes “Creating a Pollinator Friendly Habitat” with Maggie Smith of the Enchanted Mountains Garden Club, and “Grow It, Cook It, Eat It,” with Shanna Miller of Miller’s Farm Market in Olean, who will speak and discuss a few easy dishes with garden veggies and also talk about a fw herbs.
On Saturday, guests can attend “Home Tweet Home” Bluebird Nest Box Building, “Think Spring, Think Pruning,” in which Joe Schueckler, master forest owner and personal groundskeeper of his own estate, will guide us through the pruning techniques you need to create your home’s perfect surroundings. Equipment will be on hand to share, but if you have your own pruning tools, please bring them along.
Jody Silvis of Inspired by Peaches will lead a workshop called “Re-Purpose, Re-Paint, Re-Sell Good Finds.” And Home Depot representatives will be there to explain painting techniques— learn decorative interior painting tips and tricks that will give any room in your home designer style and personality.
Sunday will feature demonstrations and presentations on “DIY Projects to Refresh Your Space on a Budget,” and “Stripping and Staining Your Deck” seminars. And be sure to come down and watch Tara Zak demonstrate how to transform a kitchen without spending a ton of money.

On Friday, check out the Friday Night Wine/Brew Walk presented by WPIG-FM. Enjoy tastes from NYS wineries, Brooklyn Brewery, Samuel Adams, Ellicottville Brewing Company, Southern Tier Brewing Company and Four Mile Brewing Co. Show goers (age 21+) receive one free taste ticket, with additional taste tickets available for purchase.
On Saturday, be there for the Handyman Contest, presented by WMXO-FM. Each contestant has three fix-it challenges, and the one who completes in the quickest time with satisfaction from the judges wins.
On Sunday, enjoy “Every 30 Minute Raffles,” presented by The Mountain, when you can win gift certificates from vendors every 30 minutes.
All weekend long, check out many vendors offering everything from furniture and landscaping to essential oils and gourmet foods.

Brown Landscaping, Rambling Ranch Stove & Fireplace, Raymour & Flanigan, Revitalizing Olean, Rodan & Fields, Scentsy, The Nutty Bavarian/Main Street Outlet, Tissue Health Therapies, Trinstar LLC, XPD Landscaping and Young Living Essential Oils. These newcomers complement returning favorites such as Maple Leaf Contracting, Landworks, Dr. GreenLawn and Olean Union Sales.
In addition, Randy’s Up the River will be offering grilled chicken salad, pulled pork sandwiches, hillbilly hash, hotdogs, and more. The Cattaraugus County Health Department will also be hosting their Water Tasting Test in the lobby on Saturday. Attendees can sample and vote for the best tasting municipal water in Cattaraugus County.
The show will be held at the William O. Smith Recreation Center, 551 East State Street in Olean, across from Bradner Stadium. Show hours are Friday, 5 to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $3 for adults, $2 for students/seniors, and children 11 and under are free.
