Springville Center for the Arts will present the Annual Downtown Springville Art Crawl this Saturday, May 7. A wide variety of artwork is displayed for sale in store fronts in Springville’s Historic District. Visitors arrive at the tent at the corner of Main and Mechanic Streets to receive a map of participating locations and artists. Participants stroll from location to location from 6-9 p.m.
Music will be peppered throughout the area. Pedal steel legend Gene Hilts begins with a mini-concert outside Concord Land Realty. Members of The Fibs will start with small solo acoustic shows, switch to mariachi configuration and end the night backing up Hilts. Susie Rozler and Mama Earth’s Kitchen Band Show will create an interactive kids show outside Love Inc., while Partners in Time will pluck out a dulcimer-based, old-time sound at the Concord Mercantile. Hintz of Thunder will break out a country jam inside the Barbershop Soli Deo Gloria.
In addition to the art on the walls and the local gift shops including Fresh (Formerly Rhapsody’s), My Best Friend’s Closet and Homewear, three mini-stores will pop up around town just in time for Mother’s Day. Photography by Frank Russo will set up at RJR Engineering. Pottery and Jewelry by Elaine Hardman will be featured at Love Inc. and Missy Buckley’s assemblage & collage will be at H&R Block. The Arts Center’s tent will have new t-shirts, tickets for the upcoming performance of Proof, and Gala and Mini-Golf tickets.
Other programs include a drop-in kids art space at Arts Underground, geared toward for pre-k through adults, a book signing of local young authors from Country Life Programs at Anything Printed, a fabric Art Demonstration at the Lucy Bensley Center and SGI Students auctioning chairs at MocOne.
WSPQ Am 1330 will broadcast live during the event. Everyone is invited to the afterparty at Arts underground, 66 East Main Street at 9pm to announce this year’s award winner. For more information contact Springville Center for the Arts at (716) 592-9038.
