Raccoon Rally at ASP June 18-19

The Annual Raccoon Rally Cycling Festival Weekend rolls through Allegany State Park on Saturday and Sunday, June 18-19. Two days of cycling action draws cyclists and families from several surrounding states to experience picturesque, challenging rolling hills deep in the forest.

There’s a class for every level of cyclist during the Raccoon Rally—first timer or sponsored elite riders can flex their muscles during this annual kickoff to the cycling season in Western New York.  Proceeds from the Raccoon Rally help support the Allegany Nordic Ski Patrol and the Western New York Mountain Biking Association (WNYMBA)

Saturday’s Road Races feature a 25-mile lap around paved roadways that will test every ounce of energy.  Several categories and distances feature a challenging and hilly ride for all levels of cyclists. Sunday is all about the trails when the Cross Country Mountain Bike Race sends riders throughout the Art Roscoe trail system, utilizing recently built single track by WNYMBA.  Beginner through Expert classes compete on different courses/distances for awards and prizes.  Sunday also features free Kids Races just prior to the awards ceremony.  Helmets mandatory for all riders in all events.  Lunch, bike talk and tech support will be available all weekend at the Rally.

Rain or shine the Raccoon Rally offer’s a thrilling and challenging day of cycling action for all levels of cyclists.  Pre-register to get early entry fees.  Race-day/late registration is available at a slightly higher rate.

New this year! Saturday’s road race registration, start/finish is near the Red House Beach area—follow the signs.  This is about a mile from the start of the old starting area.  Rally headquarters for Sunday have moved to the Summit Ski Area, not in Camp Allegany, as in the past.  Registration, post-race festivities and start/finish lines are all up at the Summit area for Sunday.
