Ellicottville’s beloved Bob McCarthy died on Wednesday morning, June 8, at Bertrand Chaffee Hospital of an apparent heart attack.
Bob was a friend to all, and his stories and laughter would light up a room. Bob loved Ellicottville and took every opportunity he had to give back to the community he called home. He created and organized the annual Irish Christmas fundraiser, sat on his wagon and collected food donations during the holidays, and promoted local artists in the summer’s annual Americana Festival, just to name a few. Our community is a better place because of Bob. He will be forever missed and in our hearts.
A Celebration of Life for Bob will be held at Holiday Valley’s Yodeler Lodge at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 11.
