“6 Hours of Power” (6HOP) rolls back into Holiday Valley on Sunday, July 10. This event features a world-class 10-mile course of searing single track and endless mountain bike racing action.
Solo and two-person tag teams compete for awards and prizes in the regions most demanding, white knuckle, lung burning mountain bike race known in these parts. Riders from several surrounding states and Canada vie for bragging rights testing themselves and others at 6HOP.
Race format: At 10 a.m., the gun goes off, sending riders out on foot in a LeMans-style running start to separate the pack. After, the short run riders mount and proceed on the course for a 1-mile climbing sprint near the top of the mountain.
Enter single-track and plenty of it! Roughly six miles of manicured single track greets racers featuring a few recovery/gravel sections and two water/aid stations before the descent back to the transition area to go back for more.
We are proud to introduce the brand new flow-trail into this year’s race. The final two miles is new trail and what a great descent it is!
At 4 p.m., finishing times start being recorded and the leaderboard tells the story of the day’s accomplishments. Post-race pasta party, giant raffle and awards ceremony round out a day in Ellicottville fit for today’s endurance mountain bike racer.
T-shirts are guaranteed for all pre-registered and as they last on race-day.
Number pickup and registration is at the Holiday Valley Mountain Sports Center on Saturday, July 9 from 6-8 p.m. and on race-day starting at 8 a.m. Race-day registration is welcome.
Racer Camping: There will be free primitive camping at the base of the Chute chair lift (grassy field area) near the starting line. Look for camp signs upon pulling in. Tents and fire pits welcome. (No facilities, so please be prepared to take out what you bring in.) 11 p.m. quiet hours will be enforced.
There are no skill levels in 6HOP-just bring the power and see how you stack!
