Summer is in full swing in the historic village of Randolph, and every weekend provides something fun to do for visitors of all ages.

Take advantage of sunny days and warm evenings by heading to Randolph, which is just twenty minutes south of Ellicottville on Route 242. Whether one is looking to buy a unique treasure or spend a fun afternoon with the family, Randolph offers a variety of events this summer.

Bargain lovers, rejoice! Randolph’s famous Town Wide Lawn Sales are taking place this Friday, July 8 and Saturday, July 9. Throughout the community, dozens of families will be hosting lawn and garage sales during the weekend, when one just might find a special treasure or two for a great price.

Not sure where to begin your day? Pick up the Town Wide Lawn Sale map, which includes the addresses of participating homes, at one of these locations: the Welcome Center of the Randolph Municipal Building, Countryside Wine & Spirits, Inkley’s Pharmacy, Randolph Retail Company and Yarn for Ewe. Maps will be available at these locations on both Friday and Saturday.

The following weekend, the Randolph Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting the 82nd Annual Cattaraugus County Volunteer Firefighters Association Convention on Friday and Saturday, July 15 and 16. Every year, a different community hosts this great event, and Randolph is excited to welcome firefighters and their families to this year’s convention!

The weekend kicks off with the firefighters’ annual meeting and dinner on Friday at 6 p.m.

Then on Saturday at 11 a.m., there will be a parade on Main Street with a special Starflight flyover. Throughout the afternoon, demonstrations, recruitment and other family activities will be taking place at the fire hall from noon to 4 p.m. The Convention concludes with a banquet, memorial service and award ceremony at the Randolph Fire Hall at 5 p.m.

The public is welcome to join in at 8:30 p.m. for live music, dancing and refreshments. Volunteer firefighters and others interested in marching in the parade are welcome! Contact Howard Honey at (716) 640-4683 for more information.

Then, mark your calendars for a brand new community event sponsored by the Randolph Area Community Development Corporation this summer – the Randolph Area Veterans’ Appreciation Day on Saturday, August 13!

The celebration begins at 10:30 a.m. with a parade along Main Street to honor all veterans. Area veterans who have served and those who are currently serving are encouraged to participate. If you have a family member/veteran who is deceased, is currently on active duty, or is otherwise unable to attend the parade, please feel free to have one family member bring a large photo of your veteran (8” x 10”) to carry and march with the rest of the veterans along the parade route.

Parade line-up begins at 10 a.m. at the truck stop (7-Eleven parking lot). Floats are welcome to participate, but not fire trucks/emergency vehicles. If you’re a veteran who is unable to walk the parade route, please contact the RACDC at (716) 358-9701 ext. 208 by Friday, August 5 so arrangements can be made to ride on a wagon/trailer that day. The parade will conclude at the Randolph Fire Hall, where lunch will be served to all veterans.
