Childhood obesity is a serious medical condition that affects children and adolescents. It occurs when a child is well above the normal weight for his or her age and height.
Childhood obesity is particularly troubling because the extra pounds often start children on the path to health problems that were once confined to adults, such as diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol. Childhood obesity can also lead to poor self-esteem and depression.
One of the best strategies to reduce childhood obesity is to improve the diet and exercise habits of your entire family. Treating and preventing childhood obesity helps protect the health of your child now and in the future.
Core Performance is always offering different options for adults to train and improve their fitness levels, so inviting children to the studio was a natural progression.
Fortunately, Molly Eshbach offered to teach a Kidsfit class at Core Performance Fitness and Training.
Eshbach, a lifelong gymnast, comes from Saint Marys, PA. Eshbach, who has an infectious enthusiasm and a smile that lights up her face, channeled her gymnastics background into a fitness program for kiddos. She wanted to start ‘em young, so our pilot group of kiddos ranges from 3 to 6 years old.
The objective of each 45-minute class is to not only teach the kids some new skills, but also to work on their agility, strength and cooperation skills. Children work together and independently to complete tumbling tasks, obstacle courses and speed drills. Core Performance is very hopeful that by starting the children in programs like Kidsfit, they develop a lifelong passion for fitness.
Our first class filled up within days and so far has been a great success.
Core Performance Fitness and Training has plans to offer many more classes for kids of all ages. Follow us on our Facebook page, Core Performance Health and Fitness to find updates on all new classes.
