If the way to a person’s heart is through the stomach, then Olean is a destination visitors are sure to love on July 24. Time to loosen that belt a few notches, gather family and friends and head down to the 67th Annual Art in the Park and the 26th Annual Taste of Olean on July 24, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the new location of War Veterans Park, 551 East State Street, Olean. The Taste Of Olean, co-sponsored by the Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, National Grid Co., and GOACC’s 49 corporate sponsors provides an affordable and enjoyable festival in a socially responsible manner for families of the greater Olean area, enhances the quality of life in Olean, and promotes downtown. The Taste of Olean is a festival filled with great food and entertainment. Admission to the event is free. Pay as you eat!
The restaurants will present “tastes” of foods, not whole meals or sandwiches – smaller portions with affordable costs between 50 cents and $3.50. Restaurants are encouraged to promote their famous dishes, to introduce a new menu item or a specialty drink. Restaurants that will be appearing at the Taste include:
Maple Ridge Bison Ranch, Inc., Ann Marie’s Homemade, Certo Brothers Distributing and Greater Olean Area Chamber of Commerce, Ellicottville Brewing Co., Sinfully Delicious, Robyn & Ravyn’s, JCC Alumni Association, Brothers Bistro, Hammer Back Bar & Grill, Sanzo Beverage, Tandoor, Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino — Chocolate and Peanut Butter, Four Mile Brewing Co., Mirchi Bar-N-Grill.
Art in the Park, sponsored by the Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) held in conjunction with the Taste, is a juried fine arts show with a long standing tradition of showcasing the finest art in southwestern New York and northwestern Pennsylvania. The artists include: Kumbha Moon Soap, Kay Brooks; Dutch Hill Pottery, Bev Fehringer; Pinnacle Pottery, Eileen Weishan, Danette Wightman, Laura McCormick; Maria Welka, Southern Tier Symphony, Miranda Turner; John Balacki, Jennifer Mutton Topliffe, Theresa Heinz; Michael Weishan, Cindy Pascatore, Daniel Gonska, Sandy Pickert, and Mary Kay Worth. Three awards will be presented: Best of Show; Best New Entry; and Best Presentation.
MUSIC TO YOUR EARS
The music never stops with Theater Workshop of Olean lining up continuous entertainment. It will include the songs from the production of Little Mermaid, Olean Area Irish Dancers, Bent Brass Ensemble, Olean Theatre Workshop, Neighborhood School of Dance,Nancy Hefti Select Students, and Olean Community Theater.
The Taste is a festival for the entire family. Olean Family YMCA will bring their bounce house and slider with all-you-can-bounce wristbands for $5 each. The Girl Scouts of Western NY and the Arts Council will have kids’ activity. Eric Jones will be drawing some complimentary caricatures from 1:30 to4:30 p.m. and Balloon Lady Design will create balloon animals from 12 to 3 p.m.. Colonial Radio Group/The Mountain will be down with a live remote from 12:30-2:30 p.m.

Genesee Valley Central School will bring their ROBO-JAGs to the Taste of Olean.
The William O. Smith Recreation Center swimming pool will be open from 12 to 5 p.m. and will have FREE admission courtesy of the GOACC’s 50 Corporate Sponsors. The City of Olean Youth & Rec Staff will be hosting Basketball Challenges and games during the Taste on the basketball courts!
MARKETPLACE at the TASTE — The Jamestown Community College Alumni Association will showcase local food and catalog vendors during a new event, Marketplace @ The Taste.
WALL OF FAME PRESENTATION — The winners of the Taste of Olean Hospitality Awards will be recognized during the Taste of Olean, 1:45 p.m. under the big tent down at War Veterans Park.
