Sugar Katty Cool, performing in the Ellicottville Jazz and Blues festival this Saturday, July 30 from 1-4 p.m. was created by Carolyn Lansom, formerly Carolyn Wendel, an Ellicottville graduate of 2005.
Saturday’s performance will showcase the harmonies of three women backed by a big band. Sugar Katty Cool – A big band Jazz & Blues Act featuring the three-part vocal harmonies by Sydnie “Sugar” Perkins, Katy “Katty” Minor and Carolyn “Cool” Lansom.
The three-hour performance will include an excellent selection of covers reinvented with their own arrangements, giving new life to classic tunes, a twist to more modern favorites, such as Blues artists— Etta James and Eva Cassidy. Noteworthy blues classics— Bring it on Home to Me, Route 66. Jazz artists— Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Peggy Lee. Jazz classics— It Don’t Mean a Thing, Mr. Sandman and so much more.
