Take a break from the kitchen and head to the Taste of Ellicottville, returning to the village Aug. 13 and 14. This weekend is all about treating your taste buds to the best Ellicottville has to offer.
“Taste of Ellicottville is a constantly evolving event,” noted Chris Chapman, marketing and communications manager for the Ellicottville Chamber of Commerce, whichh presents the event. “We are fortunate to have new restaurants in the area joining the Taste every couple years. This year, we are excited to have three restaurants participating for the first time.”
Those welcome new additions are Monroe Street Brick & Brew, Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino and Villaggio.
How it works: restaurants set up “cafe style” on the streets. You purchase tickets for $1 each at a centrally-located tent, then take your tickets and exchange them for a variety of tasty fare. Items are between one and four tickets. It’s that easy!
If you’re wondering what kinds of items there are, it’s just about anything you might be craving.
Interested in starters? You bet! Blue mushroom soup, wings, fresh-made potato chips, tacos-in-a-bag, loaded tots and more are all up for grabs.
Looking for something that sticks to your ribs? Of course! Sliders, meatballs, pizza of all kinds and seafood are available, just to name a few.
Want to try something on the lighter side? Enjoy all kinds of fresh salads, ranging from sriracha lime corn salad to watermelon mint and feta salad.
And what’s a meal without some dessert options? Choose from several sweets in the form of chocolates, brownies, cookies, cobblers and more.
The Taste also brings out the friendly competitive spirit of all who participate.
“There will be a panel of judges that will decide the best in a few categories” Chapman explained. “Those would be Best of Ellicottville (best overall dish), Best Entrée, Best Dessert, and Best Drink. The judges will walk around on Saturday, making their decision after trying the various dishes. We will also have People’s Choice awards in the same categories.”
This fun and food-filled weekend is sponsored by Sysco.
“Sysco is the primary supplier for the restaurants in the area,” said Chapman. “They are a great partner in what we do in Ellicottville, not just for Taste of Ellicottville but in a year-round sense. They believe in what we do and that is why they support the Taste of Ellicottville as presenting sponsor.”
While the official event may conclude each day at 4 p.m., Chapman noted that “it’s important to remember that the day doesn’t end at 4 p.m. That’s when musical entertainment takes over the village.”
Head to all the EVL hot spots—Gin Mill, Balloons, Madigan’s, Silver Fox and Villaggio—for your choice of amazing live music.
The Taste of Ellicottville is your chance to sample the best of the best in a casual, outdoor setting. Bring the family and your appetite and enjoy a perfect August weekend in Ellicottville!
