It’s the last weekend of August, which means summer and the warm weather activities are coming to an end. Now’s the time to pack in all the adventure you can, and EVL is just the place to wrap up the season with some fun in the sun!
On Saturday, Aug. 27, Holiday Valley hosts Tuscan Moon—a Tribute to Michael Kerns. This annual fundraiser for the Ellicottville Rotary combines delicious food stations courtesy of many area restaurants, with live music, an auction hosted by celeb Brian Dunkleman and great company, all under the sun and stars at John Harvard’s Cabana Bar and Pool Complex. Tickets are $65, available at the Ellicottville Chamber, EVL Spirits, The Gin Mill & Katy’s, or you can order by phone (credit cards accepted) by calling Kegs at 699-8758. Tickets will also be available at the door if space permits.
Come back and enjoy the Holiday Valley pool complex by day. A kiddie pool, lap pool and activity pool, complete with slide and diving board, await. But don’t wait to go—the pool complex is open daily, only through Labor Day.
If retail therapy is your favorite way to spend a summer evening, enjoy Stroll the Streets on Friday, Aug. 26, from 4 to 8 p.m. Pick up a passport book at ERA Properties on Washington Street, get it stamped at participating shops, then take it to Villaggio restaurant on Monroe Street for a free treat. Also be sure to spin the wheel at ERA and win free gifts from participating shops. It’s not like you needed another excuse to shop at all the village boutiques— but just in case you did, now you have one!
If summertime adventure in the treetops is something you’ve been wanting to try, head to Holiday Valley’s Sky High Adventure Park, where you can zipline your way through the trees in the Aerial Park or climb to the tops in the Climbing Forest. Or soar down the mountain on the Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster. Make your reservations at www.holidayvalley.com/skyhigh.
This time of year is a great time to get in some rounds of golf. Head to HV’s 18-hole, par 70 “Double Black Diamond” golf course and enjoy breathtaking scenery from every hole.
Get a different view of the resort by taking a relaxing chairlift ride. Chairlift rides on Spruce Lake Quad chairlift are available now through Oct. 16 on Saturdays and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The cost is $7 per person, free for little ones ages 2 and under. At the top you can hike around Spruce Lake, hike back down any of the trails at Holiday Valley or ride back down on the lift. Food and beverage is available at the Tannenbaum Lodge at the base of the chairlift.
With so much to do and so little time, pick your faves and get movin’. Whether you’re up for non-stop action, R & R, or something in between, summer is sure to go out with a bang if you spend it in Ellicottville!
