Returning to the gridiron under the Friday night lights, Head Coach Chad Bartoszek and the Franklinville-Ellicottville Titans launched their season with a 35-8 victory over the newly combined Clymer-Sherman-Panama team.

Scoring was led by Brock Blecha (QB/LB, 6’1”, 175), who ran for 84 yards on 17 carries, with nine tackles on defense. Other scorers included Marquee Peters (WR/DB, 5’9”, 170) and Dooly Brennan (WR/DB, 5’11’, 175).

“This was a very positive start to the season. We were very happy with the way the kids responded after a sluggish start; and that leaves us with a lot to work on to get better as we continue on to week two.  Catt-LV is a familiar opponent as we’ve played them four times in the last two years and we’ve always had competitive games.  We look forward to getting better and the challenge of another tough opponent,” said Bartoszek.

The Titans ended the 2015 season as Section 6 Class D champions. Although the team suffered a loss to Bishop-Kearney in the Far West regionals, they return with 11 starters at 16 positions.

Once again this season, the Titans will split home games between the Ellicottville and Franklinville fields. With eight teams in Class D, Franklinville/Ellicottville plays a slate of all league games. Returning are Clymer/Sherman/Panama, Cattaraugus-Little Valley, Frewsburg, Portville and Randolph. Silver Creek/Forestville dropped to Class D, as did Maple Grove after splitting in a merger with Chautauqua Lake.
