Little Eagle Midgets Wrangle the Gators

The Ellicottville Eagles Midget football team advanced to 3-0 on the season with a convincing 20-6 victory over the Allegany-Limestone Gators. This win places them on top of the League as the only undefeated team. Lief Jimerson scored three touchdowns for the Eagles, with an extra point recorded by Ryan DeKay
Head Coach Tim Grinols said, “The midgets had another solid win. The offense was led by our big offensive line. All three offensive teams moved the ball well throughout the game.”
Pee Wee Head Coach Mark Chudy and his Pee Wee team dropped to 2-1 on the season when they suffered a loss earlier in the day to the Gators in a tough 32-18 battle. Touchdowns were recorded by Carter Smith and Josh Auman. In a game well played by both teams, Coach Chudy said, “Although we came up on the short end, I was happy to see our team battle back and put up a score with under a minute left to play.”
Both teams continue to play their games in tribute to Alexander Newark, a local boy and member of the Eagles family recently diagnosed with osteosarcoma of the leg who is undergoing treatment at Roswell Park Cancer Institute.
The Eagles will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 11 versus the Franklinville Panthers. Kickoff is at 1:30 p.m. The Eagles and the Panthers have a unique relationship as they practice together weekly in their efforts to build relationships with the players and their families that will carry over to high school and JV play when the teams are combined as the Franklinville-Ellicottville Titans.
