The Ellicottville Little Eagles Midget and Pee Wee football teams squeezed in two exciting football games on Saturday, Sept. 17 between torrential down pours and high winds while traveling to Irving, NY to face the Seneca Sachems.
Mark Chudy, head coach, and his pee wee team overcame a slow start and a tough Sachems team to win 21-6. With a dominant second half performance by the Eagles lineman Christopher Calarco, Noah Morlock, Isiah Ploetz, Jadon Schoepflin, and Cole Urbanski, the team was able to adjust and put forth a great team effort. Touchdowns were recorded by Owen Chudy, Hunter Smith, and Josh Auman. Extra point conversions were put in by Josh Auman and David Thompson.
The Midgets bounced back from the previous week’s painful loss to the Franklinville Panthers and stepped up to the week five challenge in a 27-2 victory. Touchdowns were scored by Leif Jimerson and Clayton Rowland, along with two big defensive touchdowns from Brett Kryniski, his career first off of a blocked punt by Harrison Newark, and Brad John off of a fumble. Extra points were converted by Colby O’Stricker; also a career first, and Issac Alexander. Tim Grinols, head coach, said, “This week we have another big challenge in front of us as we travel to Salamanca to play the Sabres. My team is working hard and will be ready for the game.”
Kickoff takes place on Saturday, Sept. 24 at 6 p.m. for the Ellicottville Eagles versus Salamanca Sabres game at Crowley Field in Salamanca.
