Audubon’s OctoberFEAST Oct. 22

“Not only do we have a new name, we also have a brand new format for our gala dinner and auction,” said Audubon Community Nature Center President Ruth Lundin. “With the addition of ‘Community’ to our name and all it suggests of relationships, fellowship, and shared values, we’re excited that ‘OctoberFEAST’ will take place right here at the Nature Center.”

“Food, Folks, and Auction Fun” is the theme for the event on Saturday evening, Oct. 22, and the items up for grabs are definitely noteworthy.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for viewing live auction items, bidding on the silent auction, and enjoying the cash bar.

From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., Shenandoah Valley BBQ and Miley’s Catering will provide the feast. Tapas food stations featuring a range of delicacies from chicken and local favorites to vegan dishes will be unveiled throughout the dining hour.

The hilarious banter anticipated between the two board member auctioneers, John Beard and Nate Welker, guarantee an entertaining live auction beginning at 7:30 p.m. Silent auction tables will close between 7:45 and 8:45 p.m.

There’s a definite sports flavor to many of the live auction items. Jamestown Container Companies is providing four box seats and parking to a Buffalo Bills game, Harbor Club front row tickets for the Buffalo Sabres, and Cleveland Indians tickets.

PNC Bank is offering their suite seats at Erie Otters hockey and Erie Seawolves baseball games as well as a Pittsburgh Pirates fan’s dream weekend: four Infield Club tickets each to back-to- back Saturday and Sunday games.

If unique dining appeals to you, you can choose from a venison dinner, vegan feast, gourmet meal served on an Audubon pond, or dinner at Moon Brook Country Club after a round of golf.

Collectors will want to keep an eye out for the Invicta watch, mounted turkey, coin appraisal, hand-crafted wooden items, and Qing Dynasty embroidered silk wall hangings.

Want a new experience? There’s a tour of Chautauqua County parks guided by one of its namesakes, a day as a professional fisheries biologist, maple syrup-making lessons, and a night at The Oaks Bed & Breakfast Hotel in Jamestown or Edwards Waterhouse Inn in Fredonia. You could have your portrait taken, in nature or with your pet.

Planning a wedding, graduation, or family gathering any time? One hundred customized Whirley Drinkworks travel mugs, with the option for more, would highlight the event – or maybe you’d prefer donating them to a charity of your choice.

There is still more – artwork, photographs, jewelry, a personal care basket, books, even a Vera Bradley ladies’ wallet filled with gift cards. You can check it all out at

The Great Entertainment Raffle will feature tickets and admissions to a number of top-quality area performances and venues.

Major auction items are provided by Gold Members: Jamestown Container Companies, PNC Bank, and Whirley Drinkworks.
