Ellicottville Yurts and Recreation was again on the agenda for the Town of Ellicottville Planning Board, and did receive approval for the project. Eight modifications accompany the approval, some of which include sign permit approval, site plan approval by the town engineer before building permits could be issued, parking spaces and access easements.
At the September meeting, the Planning Board was unable to make a resolution to approve the special use permit without conditions, because there was not a quorum of board members, and the board could not take any action.
Ellicottville Yurts and Recreation is a proposed 13-acre campground off Route 219 near the old Riley’s restaurant site, by applicant Justin Dineen. It will include up to four yurts, portable bathrooms and a trailer, which will serve as an office. There will be no sewer or electric to the yurts, and generators will not be permitted.
Town Planner Gary Palumbo talked to the board again about the Comprehensive Plan, updating board members with much of the same information that he presented at the September meeting. He stressed that this is not intended to be a complete re-write, as directed by the board, but that he would be working with them to identify areas of the plan that needed to be reworked or updated. Discussion also included the possibility of involving a member of the zoning board to attend the comprehensive plan meetings once a month.
Once the Town Board has approved the direction of the plan, he hopes to begin the review and re-write process in January 2017.
“The 1990 comprehensive plan was substantially rewritten in 2006, and then amended in 2009, 2011 and 2012. The intent of this update is to keep up with local development trends, new social and environmental concerns, and to incorporate the newest (applicable) management strategies,” as stated in a memo from Palumbo to the Town of Ellicottville dated Sept. 14, 2016.
The next meeting of the Town of Ellicottville’s Planning Board is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 28 at 6 p.m.
