Fine Art & Artisan Works at the Slopes!

Once again the Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) will assemble many of the region’s talented fine artists and artisans for the Winter Arts Festival at the Holiday Valley Lodge in Ellicottville on November 19 and 20. Holiday shoppers will find unique handmade gifts, perfect for all of those names on their holiday shopping list, from among the many booths displaying original paintings, prints, photographs, pottery, jewelry, baskets, wood carving and fiber arts. What could be better than giving your family and friends one-of-a-kind gifts that you can’t find online? You’ll be shopping local and supporting local artists and artisans!

Many artists return this year to reconnect with artist friends and loyal customers. CCAC Artist Member Elliott Hutten of Hog Shed Studio Pottery explains, “As a functional potter, I appreciate this opportunity to put my work on display along with so many other excellent artists and craftspeople. Conveniently located at Holiday Valley in Ellicottville, the Winter Arts Festival is a great venue for holiday shopping all under one roof!”

Executive Director Tina Hastings says, “The Winter Arts Festival gives artists another opportunity in the region to display and sell wonderful handmade works of art. Many of our artists enjoy quite a following of shoppers and this is a chance for you to see what delights you might scoop up from your favorite artist for someone special on your gift list.  Plus, the relaxed atmosphere of the event allows shoppers to talk with artists about their work and to learn more about the creative process. Bring your children along too! It’s never too late to help nurture the next generation of artists and art enthusiasts.”

CCAC is pleased to welcome several new artists to this year’s event including Laura McCormick who creates steampunk jewelry. Laura says “It’s exciting to be involved with a group of people who genuinely appreciate and celebrate art. The Cattaraugus County Arts Council has opened doors for me to friendships and networking opportunities with other talented artists and art enthusiasts who share ideas and delight in artistic expression. I greatly look forward to participating in the Winter Arts Festival.”

If you want to stay for the weekend, the Inn at Holiday Valley is the perfect place for shoppers to stay! The Inn at Holiday Valley is offering a special rate just for Winter Arts Festival visitors of $119 per night.
