As The Boardroom on Main (BoM) prepares for their second season with a Village location, their cutting edge social media savvy has their new podcast available on iTunes. The Ellicottville Times got an inside look at their upcoming year with one of the owners, Spencer Timkey.(BoM is owned by the Timkey family, long time Ellicottville residents.)
In their podcast, Cold Soup, Team Boardroom discusses topics such as winter predictions, their favorite products, winter sports videos and everything to do with the mountain lifestyle. Their sixth podcast dropped on Nov. 1, 2016. You can access and subscribe to the episodes by searching “Cold Soup” on iTunes. Each Podcast drops on Tuesdays around 7 p.m. eastern standard time.
“Social media marketing is the future,” Timkey tells us. “People do everything on their phone these days, so we want to maximize our search engine optimization, adapt and evolve with the future of marketing.”
Along with their podcasts, BoM is very active on Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram, posting their newest gear, promos and everything Ellicottville. They can be found with the username boardroomeville on all platforms. You can also find them on Facebook as The Boardroom Snowboard Shop.
With this being their second season of business, there are a few more changes to the layout of the store. Last year, BoM was inside of Adventure Bound onthefly on the lower level and this led to some visibility issues. “Bad snowfall with the sinking Canadian Dollar also did not help the cause,” Timkey said. “This year we share the space again, but we have our own front door and first floor space, adjoined to Adventure Bound. This coupled with strong winter forecasting makes all of us at The Boardroom on Main very optimistic for the upcoming season.”
BoM features many products, but the main brands they carry are Burton, Volcom, Stance Socks, GoPro and Oakley. Equipment inside the store is very lifestyle-centric. “We carry a wide variety of apres gear that is tailored to the avid winter sports enthusiast,” said Timkey. This includes products such as flannels, hoodies, street wear, socks, etc.
When the Timkey family decided to open this second store (their flagship store, The Boardroom, is located just outside of the Village of Ellicottville by Holiday Valley), they wanted to have it be an expansion and extension of their product lines. “It was an opportunity to grow and sell products we feel are essential to the mountain lifestyle,” Timkley stated.
BoM resides at 14 Washington Street. They can also be found online at www.boardsandpowder.com, phoned at (716) 364-5800 or just stop by and say hello some time!
