Ellicottville’s Christmas Stroll a Day to Remember

We live in a world of constant hustle and what seems to be a continuous push for more and more. Why not take the time to come to Ellicottville and remember what it was that created this special time of year? Ellicottville’s Christmas Stroll is a commemoration of that first Christmas.

On Dec. 3, at 9 a.m., head to the annual Christmas Bazaar at the United Church on Elizabeth Street and shop for a unique piece for that special someone who has it all. The bazaar runs until 4 p.m.

Throughout the day, Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church will have their annual display of Nativity and Angels for all to see, on Martha Street.

“Ellicottville is a great place to come out and experience a relaxed pace and to take the time to enjoy a nice representation of the reason we celebrate during this Holiday Season,” Gwen Bush, the organizer of the event, said. “Come out and remind yourself of what Christmas is all about.”

From 4 to 5:30 p.m., Santa arrives at Villaggio to greet all the good girls and boys, and his wife, Mrs. Claus, will be in her kitchen at Katy’s Café for cookies. Throughout the day, elves will be circulating the village with candy, carolers will be strolling with their tunes, a live camel will be around!

At 4:30 p.m., a spectacle unparalleled will take over the village as pet owners bring their pride and joy, dressed in their season’s best for the annual Rein Dog Parade down Washington Street!

The evening comes to a close with a living Nativity. The children of Ellicottville, as well as a live camel, donkey and a few other surprises, use the village to tell the story of that first Christmas, the journey and the birth of Jesus. The procession begins at 6 p.m., ending at the Village gazebo, where the pageant will take place with the story and celebrations.
