The Cattaraugus County Arts Council (CCAC) has joined #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and to celebrate generosity worldwide. Occurring this year on Nov. 29, #GivingTuesday is held annually on the Tuesday after Thanksgiving (in the U.S.) and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to collaborate in improving their local communities and to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support.
This year #GivingTuesday is special because it is the first “day of giving” for New York-based nonprofit organizations. Executive Director of CCAC, Tina Hastings says, “CCAC decided to join this year to share CCAC’s mission of promoting arts and culture in our community and region and to raise money for operations and programs”.
There are several other nonprofit organizations in Cattaraugus County participating in the campaign including the Challenger Learning Center, Olean Food Pantry, Inc., and Pfeiffer Nature Center and Foundation, Inc. Hastings says, “We are asking the community to make a donation of any amount to CCAC or these other organizations who are working hard to improve the quality of life in the region”.
