You’re never too old to learn something new! If you feel like you’ve been missing out on winter fun because you never got around to learning how to ski or snowboard, join others across the country for National Learn a Snowsport month, happening all January long.

Throughout the month, get a half priced learn to ski or learn to snowboard package (ages 12 and up) at Holiday Valley! The daytime price is $30 and the price for a night package is $22. The Beginner’s Package includes a beginner’s lesson, beginner’s lift ticket and rental equipment for skiing or snowboarding. Register and receive rental equipment at Creekside Lodge. Day Lessons are offered daily and start between 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Night learn to ski/snowboard packages are available with one hour lessons at 5:30, 6:30 and 7:30 p.m.

At HoliMont, in January only, they are offering their Learn to Ski, Snowboard or Telemark special during the week for $85, which includes an hour and a half beginner lesson with lift ticket, lesson and basic equipment rental. (Bring a friend for same lesson for free.) Weekend (must be signed in as a guest at HoliMont) Learn to Ski, Snowboard or Telemark Private Lesson for $135. Includes hour and a half lesson with basic rental. (Bring a friend for same lesson for free.)

World’s Largest Ski/Snowboard Lesson Jan. 6

Anyone age six or older can be part of breaking a Guinness world record by taking a free Learn to Ski or Learn to Snowboard Lesson at Holiday Valley at 1 p.m. on Jan. 6. Holiday Valley is joining with resorts across the country to introduce the great sports of skiing and riding to as many people as possible. Reservations required by calling (716) 699-3505. Your lesson includes rental equipment, a first timer lesson and a beginner’s area lift ticket. Available to anyone age 6 or older.

Plan to arrive at Holiday Valley and go to the Creekside Lodge, located slopeside of the Holiday Valley Lodge by noon at the latest. Bring your own clothing (base layer, insulating layer and weatherproof jacket and pants, weather proof mittens or gloves, goggles). You can rent a helmet here at the resort. Anyone under 18 must have a parent to sign a legal form.

At Creekside you’ll fill out a form that asks your age, weight and height. You’ll get your boots at the rental counter and they’ll help you make sure they’re the right size. Then you’ll get your skis and poles or snowboard that will be sized right for your height and ability. School Haus, the beginner’s area, is right outside the door—you’ll be joined a group of other beginners and get your own instructor. After your lesson, your instructor will give you directions on where to go next, based on how far you progressed in your lesson. You’ll also receive a “You Rip” card that gives you a discount on future lift, lesson and rental packages for a full year.

Join in the fun and get a jump start on 2017 by learning something new. There’s no better place to celebrate National Learn a Snowsport Month than in Ellicottville!
