Little Valley Speedway is celebrating its twentieth season in style this weekend with the Memorial Day Late Model and 358 Modified Special races on Sunday, May 28! The only true half-mile dirt track in the area, Little Valley Speedway is located at the Cattaraugus County Fairgrounds on Route 353 in Little Valley, just eight miles west of Ellicottville and 15 miles north of Allegany State Park. The whole family will enjoy this exciting season opener, which starts at 6:30 p.m. (gates open at 3 p.m. with hot laps starting at 5:30).
Sunday will open with the Super Late Models, who will be racing for an impressive $3,000 prize. The 358 Modifieds will race for a $2,000 prize, and the fourth annual Mike “Duke” DuClon Memorial race for the Crate Late Models will award a $1,000 prize, plus a bonus of $558 to the winner. Sunday’s races also include the Street Socks, with $300 going to the first car over the finish line. Sunday’s races are sponsored by Close Racing Supply, Coca-Cola of Buffalo, Sanzo Beverage Company and Little Valley Sand and Gravel.
Little Valley Speedway is known not only for its iconic dirt track, but also the covered 3,000 seat grandstand, which has been remodeled to include additional bench seating in front. Like to get as close to the action as possible? Watch the races from the pits for just $30 (ages 16 and older only). Be sure to bring your appetite, as the grandstand’s famous pizza and two-hand fried dough are the perfect treats to enjoy during the races.
Little Valley Speedway is just a 20-minute drive from Allegany State Park, so if you’re spending Memorial Day weekend camping with your family, head to the fairgrounds for a night of racing. You can also bring the camper right to the fairgrounds, where free parking and free camping with hookups are available. To learn more, call the Speedway at (716)938-9146.
Be sure to return to the Fairgrounds to enjoy the whole season at Little Valley Speedway. Friday, June 9 is the Super Spring Special, Saturday, July 1 is the Lucas Oil Empire Pullers, Monday, July 3 is the Freedom Daze Late Model Special, Tuesday, July 4 is the Freedom Daze Demolition Derby (and fireworks), and Saturday, Sept. 16 is the WNY Super Late model and 358 Modified Double Header. Ticket prices vary for each event: visit www.littlevalleyspeedway.com for details.
Tickets for this weekend’s season opener are available at the grandstand on Sunday. Admission is $15 for adults, $13 for seniors (62 and older), and free for children under age 12. Anyone age 16 and older may watch the races from the pits for $30.
