Race Season is in full swing, which means plenty of options for serious and fun-loving competitors out there!

On Saturday, July 8, take part in the BonaFest 5K Run/Walk. Now in its 8th year, this race supports the important activities of St. Bonaventure Parish. Registration begins at 8 a.m. and the race begins at 9 a.m. Sign up at www.runsignup.com/Race/NY/StBonaventure/Bonafest5KRunWalk

On Saturday, July 15, check out the Finn McCool 4 Mile Odyssey at South Buffalo’s Cazenovia Park. Competitors traverse a 4-mile adventure run while navigating over, under and through obstacles including a climbing wall, cargo net, monkey bars, hay bales, slip ’n slides, mud crawl and many more – until the finish line is crossed and the party with Finn begins! 1st wave starts at 9 a.m., and the 9:30 wave is the only chip timed and competitive wave. Visit www.finnmccool4mile.com for more info.

Also on July 15 is the Insane Inflatable 5K at Knox Farm in East Aurora. In the Insane Inflatable 5K, a towering, albeit bouncy, staircase looks down on runners—and that’s just the first obstacle. After clambering up one side and sliding down the other, contestants face a series of difficult grownup bounce houses with intimidatingly cute names. In Tangled Up, for example, a bramble of tubes catches runners in a rubbery maze. Likewise, S.O.S. has a 2.5-story pile of slides that leaves one feeling dizzy and disoriented. The whole thing climaxes at the Finish Line, which features rubber wrecking balls, a human pinball machine of colorful bumpers, and a rope ladder. Afterward, everyone gets to head to the Insane Midway to enjoy carnival games, live DJ performances, and food and beverages. For info, visit insaneinflatable5k.com.

On Sunday, July 16 at 10 a.m., the Run Jimmy Run Charity 5K will take place at Coca Cola Field, 275 Washington Street in Buffalo. The race benefits the Alzheimer’s Association of WNY in remembrance of Jimmy Griffin. Race and 1 mile walk registration includes Buffalo Bisons Ticket vs. Scranton/WB, 1:05 baseball game, Commemorative T-shirt (for the first 500 registrants), Jaguar Chip-Timed Bib provided by ITS Buffalo Time, post-race party with lunch, beer and beverages and swag bag. Visit www.runjimmyruncharity5k.com for more info.

On Sunday, July 23, at 9:30 a.m. the EVL-9 and EVL-4 Trail Runs return to Ellicottville. Choose from 9.7 or 4.2 mile courses on the trails in and around Holiday Valley, with 100 percent of the course being off-road trails, including ski area access roads, single track trails and tight-twisty downhills throughout Holiday Valley and state lands. These races are part of the Eastern Grip Trail Running Series, and help support the Heart Animal Shelter. All entrants are invited to the Holiday Valley Pool after the awards ceremony for the EVL-Trail Run Pool Party.  1/2 price pool entry coupons will be given to those interested at the race.  For more info, visit www.heartrateup.com.

On Friday, July 28 at 7 p.m., the Springville Stampede makes its way back to SGI High School, 290 North Buffalo Street in Springville. The 5K race / walk includes food and prizes, and benefits the SGI cross country team. Visit sites.google.com/springvillecsd.org/stampede/home for more info.

On Saturday, July 29, take part in the annual McGreevy Run to honor all of our HEROES is our way of honoring Lt. Michael McGreevy who was KIA on 6.28.05 as a part of Operation Redwings.  Mike was a 1993 graduate of Portville Central School and he was one of the standouts in both morality and drive.  A scholarship was set up in his memory to be given to select students who live their lives in the manner in which Mike did. The goal of the race is to give all proceeds to the scholarship fund which gives back to the students of PCS.  For more info, visit runsignup.com/Race/NY/Portville/ TheMcGreevy RunforallofourHEROES.

The Randolph Toymakers 5K Run/Walk is also on July 29, and is a fundraiser to purchase supplies and pay shipping costs for toys that go to underprivileged children locally and in other countries. For more info, visit www.facebook.com/groups/522408037946012/
