Salamanca Flower Show July 22

The beauty of flowers and the skills of area quilters, painters,  and instructors will be featured at the annual Salamanca Garden Club  Flower Show, on Saturday, July 22. The show will be held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the United Congregational Methodist Church at 134 Broad Street.

Annuals, perennials, lilies, roses, containers, hostas, and  arrangements will be the main features. However, there are many exciting activities that will also be available. There will be a Chinese Auction of  garden related items, a 50/50 drawing, and a Children’s Make It and Take  it Table. The children will be creating paintings that will be framed in  handmade twig frames. These and other watercolor paintings will be  conducted under the careful instruction of Darlene Subulski and Nita  Yonker.

Quilted items from the Monday Quilting Group and paintings by  area artists will be on display. Some will be for sale.

There will be a  large selection of perennials from Sinn Valley Gardens.

There will be three mini-classes held during the show. The first is at  noon with Beth Reithmiller. She will be using the versatile herb basil  to teach you how to make  Lemon Basil Quinoa Salad.

Cheri Reed will be  teaching you about the many benefits of essential oils at 1 p.m.

At 2 p.m.,  Carol Ellis will demonstrate how to create a small glass dish garden  with succulents.

The Salamanca Garden Club members hope you will join them to learn  more about the wonderful world of plants! It’s all free, open to the  piblic, and comes with free refreshments!   Join us for a beautiful,  fun, and educational afternoon.
