There are very few places in Western New York where you can enjoy a KISS tribute band, Jason Derulo, a tractor pull, Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable Guy, and a demolition derby, all in a timespan of one week.
The Erie County Fair kicked off on Wednesday, Aug. 9 and there are still plenty of events coming up that will appeal to a variety of audiences.
On Friday, Aug. 11 the main grandstand entertainment will be Mr. Speed: World’s Best KISS Tribute band with the tongues, hair, guitars and makeup to prove it. This free concert starts at 8:30 a.m. in the grandstand.
Following the KISS Tribute on Saturday, the fair will welcome Jason Derulo – a singer, songwriter and dancer who has sold more than 50 million singles worldwide and worked alongside a variety of artists ranging from Demi Lovato to Snoop Dogg. General admission tickets start at $40 and the concert begins at 7:30 p.m.
On Sunday, Aug. 13, fair-goers will time travel with the sounds of the 70s during the Rock of the 70s Tour, featuring The Guess Who, Atlanta Rhythm Section, Pure Prairie League and Pat Travers Band. The show will take place in the grandstand at 7:30 p.m., with general admission starting at $30.
Fair audiences will be left in stitches on Monday, Aug. 14 as Jeff Foxworthy and Larry The Cable Guy take over the grandstand as part of their “We’ve Been Thinking” tour. Foxworthy and Larry will both take the stage separately to present new material before coming together on stage for a hilarious encore. Tickets for the double dose of comedy begin at $55 and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
Younger crowds may gather on Tuesday, Aug. 15 to witness the talent of Sabrina Carpenter, who has starred on several TV shows, including Disney Channel’s “Girl Meets World” and “Milo Murphy’s Law.” Carpenter won the Radio Disney Music Awards in both 2015 and 2016 and her current single “Thumbs” is her first to appear on the Billboard pop charts. Tickets for to see Carpenter perform begin at $18 for general grandstand admission.
The second half of the fair entertainments takes a turn from music and comedy to motors and monster trucks as the rest of the fair entertainment includes motocross, truck and tractor pulls, demolition derby and more!
On Wednesday, Aug. 16, the entertainment kicks off with a Motocross Championship Series, a free event in the grandstand that includes the nation’s top riders. This exciting, highflying event features FMX Motocross riders who will be performing aerial stunts as they launch motorcycles more than 70 feet in the air.
Pull enthusiasts will revel at two days of truck and tractor pull entertainment on both Thursday and Friday nights. Both nights will feature six classes of the biggest, loudest and toughest trucks and tractors, gathering to compete in Empire State Pullers classes and showcase the best the state has to offer. Those who are interested in attending are advised to go early – these events are fair traditions and fans have been known to pack the grandstands.
Saturday has been dubbed the Ultimate Night of Destruction as buses, SUVs, and compact cars gather around the track for double figure-8 racing. Guests will be on the edge of their seats as they watch drivers try to miss each other at the intersection. General admission for this event is $16 and kids 12 and under are free.
On the closing night of the fair, the fairgrounds will welcome more than 100 cars for World’s Largest Demolition Derby, which requires cars to first compete in heats before heading to the finals. Guests are encouraged to get in on the event by judging who has the wildest and craziest decorations. This event is produced by JM Motorsport Productions and will take place at both 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets for this event are $20.
