Allegany State Park Celebrates National Public Lands Day

ASP-Quaker-Lake

Join Allegany State Park as they celebrate National Public Lands Day with their 13th year of participation!

National Public Lands Day is our nation’s largest one-day event designed to give people a chance to give back to the public lands they love by volunteering for a few hours on a variety of service projects that enhance both the park and the visitor experience.

This year’s event takes place Saturday, Sept. 30 on the Quaker side of the park. There are lots of great projects in the works!

The day will start off with Check-in/Registration from 9-10 a.m. at the Quaker Museum. Service Projects will be from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., followed by a chicken barbeque dinner at the Quaker picnic area (for a very nominal fee) at 4 p.m. Participants are asked to come dressed for the weather and to get dirty.

This event will be held rain or shine. Attendees should pre-register by Sept. 25 by contacting the Environmental Education/Recreation Department at (716) 354-9101 ext.236. They will also gladly accept walk-in volunteers the day of the event.
