Health & Fitness: Boot Camp at Core Performance

BOOT CAMP.  Words to describe how our military train.  There are no better role models for strong bodies than our men and women in the military.  Boot camp is comprised of four key principles: fortitude, endurance, agility and power. The goal is to improve mobility, speed and stamina to outwork and outlast the opposition.

Every summer, Core Performance offers its version of boot camp, a 4-week program that pushes all participants of every fitness level to dig deeper into their mental and emotional strength to extract the words, “I can’t” from their daily vocabulary and embrace the athlete within.  Every year, our participants wonder why they are working out at the ungodly hour of 6 a.m. three mornings a week. But, by the end of every sweat soaked class filled with cardio, strength and agility challenges, you will be hard pressed to find anyone regretting one second of it.

Like every year prior, my fitness teammate Debbie Fredrickson and myself have been hard at work finding new ways to challenge our participants without complicating the workouts.  We keep important and basic elements in every workout to ensure efficiency, yet add challenges to promote serious calorie burn.

The camaraderie also helps.  A group makes you accountable to show up, and the support helps you push through an intense workout.

This year. Core Performance ran two boot camps simultaneously, one in the morning and one in the afternoon.  Debbie and I were thrilled to fill both and run them the entire summer vs. just 4 weeks.   And, since our fitness studio has grown to be known for not only its challenging workouts, but also by the results these camps deliver, we have decided to run boot camps every month.  Again, we will offer three 6 a.m. classes on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday; as well as three afternoon classes, (5:15 p.m.) on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.  Each month, we will integrate specific goals for our winter sports enthusiasts and our body transformation clients.  We will once again utilize our entire gym and use a variety of fitness equipment like dumbbells, TRX bands, Bosu balls, battle ropes and more.  Every class will have components of cardio and core and strength training, but not every class will be the same.  Our goal is to teach you to be the strongest athlete/person you can be.

So, if you are interested in participating in Core Performance’s Boot Camps, you need to act soon.  Space is limited and we already have participants signed up. Start date is Oct. 2 for our 5:15 p.m. camp and Oct. 3 for our 6 a.m. camp. Camps will run monthly and participants will receive two bonus classes.  Drop-in rate will be $10 and on a first come first serve basis. And remember, nothing is accomplished without making a commitment!
