The October meeting of the Village Planning Board (VPB) opened their meeting with an addition to the agenda, a Hanging Sign Application for a new project at 24 Monroe Street.

Next, the VPB made a motion to approve the minutes of the September meeting. There was a second and they were approved.

In New Business, the Edge Hair Salon has put in an application for a new Canopy Sign over the entrance to the salon. It is a new 26-square-foot canopy that cannot be approved by the Code Enforcement Officer (CEO) and must be approved by the VPB. Village Planner advises all standards have been met. The canopy will not be within 1 foot of the road, will be over 8.5 feet from the ground, content standards met and text needs to be under 8 inches.

There is one extra condition that has been added and that is the light under the canopy must be aimed down toward the door and step and not outwards to illuminate the canopy. VPB made a motion to approve the canopy with the Village Planners conditions, there was second and it was approved.

Next was an amendment to the Architectural Design Review of PB-2017-10 – 20 Fillmore Drive. The windows are now going to be white rectangular double hung instead of arched. The window on the garage will also now be white rectangular and there will not be a door on the front of the garage. One light has been added to the back of the house and two added to the front. This is a Type 2 Action under State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) and does not need to undergo the SEQR review process. There is also no County Review. There was a motion to approve the Amendment per the Village Planners Conditions and as they are shown on the new plan. There was a second and the VPB approved.

Last, a new restaurant is coming to the village, The Public House of Ellicottville, applied for a Hanging Sign. All criteria has been met and the sign is 26’ x 24’, will be 10 feet off of the ground and must be constructed as shown in the plans which the CEO will enforce. The VPB made a motion to approve the sign with the previous conditions, there was a second and the VPB approved.
