CRCF to Lead County-Wide Giving Day, Cattaraugus Gives

For 24 hours on Nov. 28, the community will have the opportunity to support more than 35 nonprofits in Cattaraugus County during the first-ever day of giving in Cattaraugus County, Cattaraugus Gives.

The Cattaraugus Region Community Foundation will lead Cattaraugus Gives as part of the highly successful #NYGIVESDAY program, which last year raised over $11 million across New York State.Donors can give easily and quickly online at nygivesday.org all day on Nov. 28 to participating organizations. Donors can find a list of local organizations by typing “Olean” in the location search box.

A gift to any participating organization on Nov. 28 may also help them win monetary incentives, up to $5,000, being offered by CRCF. Those incentives include:

• Most unique donors ($1,500) Second place ($1,000)

• First gift prize — for organization that receives the first gift on giving day ($250)

• Early bird prize — Most unique donors between 7 and 8 a.m. ($500)

• Morning Coffee Prize — most unique donors between 9 and 10 a.m. ($500)

• Happy hour prize — most unique donors between 4 and 6 p.m. ($500)

• Last hoorah prize — most unique donors between 11 and 12 p.m. ($500)

• From a donor far away — awarded to organization with gift from farthest away based on credit card billing address ($250)

According to CRCF Executive Director Karen Niemic Buchheit, the board of directors decided to offer incentives to celebrate the work of area nonprofits and the spirit of giving.

“We try to support our area nonprofits year-round in any capacity we can — whether it be as a grantmaker, an advisor or a community collaborator,” said Buchheit. “We are always amazed at what these agencies do to help the community, and this is our opportunity to give back to them.”

“We trust that the community will come forward and lend its support to the organizations who work so hard to provide essential services,” Buchheit added. “Cattaraugus Gives is about raising money, but it is just as much about giving Cattaraugus a stronger future.”

Donors can give to any of the participating organizations on Nov. 28 by visiting nygivesday.org. Donors can search for organizations by name and location.
