Linnea Jimerson racked up 17 points and 20 rebounds to lift the Ellicottville girls basketball team (8-8, 5-3) to its second win in a row Monday, edging out Pine Valley 50-41.

Evie Cortez added 13 points for the Eagles (8-9), who let a 14-point halftime lead slip away before pulling away again in the fourth quarter.

Ellicottville 39, Cattaraugus-Little Valley 21

After surrendering 82 points in a loss at league-best undefeated Franklinville, Ellicottville (7-8) responded, holding Cattaraugus-Little Valley to five first-half points in bouncing back Thursday, Feb. 1.

Linnea Jimerson paced the Eagles with 21 points and 16 rebounds.

Abby Gostomski and Erin Washburn had six points each for C-LV (7-10).

“Defensively we played with a lot more focus and effort,” Eagles coach Chad Bartoszek said. “After the Franklinville loss we had to reboot and go back to basics. I’m hoping we can carry that into next week, we have three league games coming up.

“Defense was definitely the focus tonight.”
