Playing for the Franklinville/Ellicottville coaching staff, two more named from the Ellicottville Central School senior class have joined the Big 30 All-Star Charities Classic roster.
Two-way tackle Walter Woodarek and wide receiver/defensive back Deric Leiper join New York in the 11th week of roster announcements, along with Cuba-Rushford quarterback/strong safety Dawson Sanderson.
Added to Pennsylvania’s roster are Kane halfback/middle linebacker Eric Delong, Kane center/defensive lineman Tyler Snyder and Eisenhower quarterback/running back/strong safety Spencer Head.
Woodarek and Leiper join ECS classmates Griffin Chudy and Austin Grinols, already announced along with Franklinville’s Brock Blecha, for the game. They’ll play for their high school head coaching staff led by Chad Bartoszek one more time as New York plays Pennsylvania Saturday, Aug. 4, at Bradford High’s Parkway Field.
The 6-foot-0, 230-pound Woodarek made the Big 30 All-Star team, New York State Class D second team, All-Western New York third team and Section 6 Class D first team along with being a Trench Trophy nominee this year. He plans to attend Alfred State to study welding technologies and start his own business in the future.
Woodarek said he’s looking forward to playing in the Big 30 game, for the love of the game and to hit. His most memorable moment was getting a sack against JFK for a safety after his team fumbled on the goal line. His hobbies include hunting, fishing and working. Woodarek’s favorite NFL team is the Buffalo Bills and his favorite player is Kyle Williams.
The 5-foot-11, 170-pound Leiper plans to attend Brockport University, major in finance and hopes to play football at the school. He was named a first team league all-star his senior year.
Leiper said he wants to play in the Big 30 Charities Classic because he loves to play football and is excited to represent New York and play again with his teammates. His most memorable moments playing football were attending New Era Field four years in a row in the playoffs. His hobbies include football, golf, basketball and helping out his community and spending time with his family and friends. His favorite NFL team is the Buffalo Bills and his favorite player is Cincinnati’s A.J. Green.
