As the countdown to summer vacation begins, ‘tis the season for parents to think about how their kids will be filling those long summer days. For many, various camps offer a worthwhile way for kids to explore their interests. This week, check out some local places that offer camps for the sports enthusiasts in your life.

For those looking for a residential option, many area kids head south to Houghton College, which offers numerous sports-related camps, with overnight or day camp options. Their premier instructional camps for players entering grades 1-12 features individual instruction and specific coaching adapted to age and skill level from expert coaches within their safe Christian environment, on the following dates:

Summer Tennis Camp
Tennis camp, July 15-19, will include over 32 hours of instruction and match play, including game strategy, singles and doubles patterns, mental toughness, video analysis, and form development. Campers will partake in daily stretching and conditioning along with having their fundamental skills individually addressed. Houghton College has 12 varsity tennis courts; six outdoor courts as well as 6 indoor courts in the Kerr Pegula Field House.

The Rochester Futbol Club hosts their annual overnight soccer camp at Darien Lake, July 9-13, for boys and girls U9-U18. The $525 tuition includes four days of professional soccer tuition, four nights stay at Darien Lakes Lodge on the Lake Hotel, daily bus transportation to and from the Pembroke soccer fields, four fully chaperoned theme park evenings and all meals.
