Cummings dominates with two gold medals

The second weekend of U14 Excelsior Cup racing was a bit closer to home for most athletes. There were two Slaloms one held at Kissing Bridge in Glenwood and the other held at Buffalo Ski Club in Colden. Mother Nature made for some interesting conditions both days.There was plenty of snow which meant a soft track and made it very easy for ruts to form. 

Day One Kissing Bridge:

Women: Madalyn Cummings of HoliMont walked away with the gold medal, winning by 1.16 seconds. Francesca Ferrara (HO) finished 5th, Carissa Dunlap (HO) 9th, Charlotte Harter (HV) 11th, Reese Latta (HV) 12th, Halle Stephens (HV) 16th and Claire Rintoul (HO) 19th. Lilah Pecora (HO) placed 24th, Emmylu Carls (HO) 27th, Charlotte Branscombe (HO) 31st, Kaitlyn Turnbull (HO) 34th and Hannah Baker (HO) 38th.

Men: Holiday Valley’s Erik Shattenberg took home the bronze medal with teammate Carson Corey finishing in 4th. Buck Rathbun of HoliMont finished 7th, Maxwell Burget (HO) 9th, Hans Solly (HO) 11th and Blake Preston (HO) 13th. Harry Scanlon (HV) took 14th, Liam Ainslie (HO) 17th, Beaudin Napolitano (HO) 20th, Alex Gambrell (HO) 32nd and John Black (HV) 35th. Chris Depaul (HO) finished 37th, Nathan Belza (HO) 38th, Dougie Basadur (HO) 42nd and Jonathan Scarrow (HO) 43rd.

Day Two Buffalo Ski Club: 

Women: Madalyn Cummings (HO) continued her success winning the race by 1.66 seconds. Mary Catherine Mangan (HO) took home the silver medal. Leah Smillie (HV) finished 6th, Francesca Ferrara (HO) 8th, Alexandra Smillie (HV) 9th, Charlotte Harter (HV) 11th and Carissa Dunlap (HO) 13th. Claire Rintoul (HO) placed 17th, Reese Latta (HV) 20th and Emmylu Carls (HO) 28th.

Men: Erik Shattenberg (HV) improved on day one finishing with the silver medal and Maxwell Burget (HO) took home the bronze. Hans Solly (HO) placed 7th, Blake Preston (HO) 8th, Harry Scanlon (HV) 9th, C. Breck DuPaul (HO) 11th, Andrew Williams (HO) 12th and Liam Ainslie (HO) 15th. Beaudin Napolitano (HO) finished 24th, John Black (HO) 25th, Dougie Basadur (HO) 26th, Buck Rathbun (HO) 31st, Alex Gambrell (HO) 33rd, Jonathan Scarrow (HO) 37th and Nathan Belza (HO) 42nd. 

U21/19/16 athletes traveled to Bristol Mountain in Canandaigua for a total of three Super G’s. 

Super G One:

U21/19 Women: Holiday Valley’s Logan Fredrickson found herself on top of the podium with the gold medal. Hayly Fredrickson (HV) finished with the bronze medal. 

U21/19 Men: Jess Sauereisen (HV) took home the silver medal. W. Logan Hubert (HV) placed 22nd.

U16 Women: Rory Sauereisen (HV) finished 6th, Megan Williams (HV) 11th, Sophia Gambino (HV) 13th, Evelyn Polly (HV) 16th and Brooke Willer 17th.

U16 Men: Alexander Wojnowski (HV) walked away with the silver medal. Ross Fuller (HV) finished 4th, William Dunn (HV) 8th and Nicholas Koerber (HV) 11th. 

Super G Two:

U21/19 Women: Holiday Valley’s Logan Fredrickson found herself on top of the podium again with the gold medal. Hayly Fredrickson (HV) improved finishing with the silver medal. 

U21/19 Men: W. Logan Hubert (HV) placed 18th.

U16 Women: Rory Sauereisen (HV) finished 5th, Megan Williams (HV) 8th, Sophia Gambino (HV) 13th, Evelyn Polly (HV) 15th and Brooke Willer 16th.

U16 Men: Alexander Wojnowski (HV) finished again on the podium with a bronze medal. Ross Fuller (HV) finished 5th, William Dunn (HV) 8th and Nicholas Koerber (HV) 12th. 

Super G Three:

U21/19 Women: Holiday Valley’s Logan Fredrickson once again found herself on top of the podium with the gold medal. Hayly Fredrickson (HV) finished with the bronze. 

U21/19 Men: Jess Sauereisen (HV) took home the bronze medal. W. Logan Hubert (HV) placed 12th and Connor Galton (HV) 20th.

U16 Women: Rory Sauereisen (HV) finished 5th, Megan Williams (HV) 8th, Sophia Gambino (HV) 13th, Evelyn Polly (HV) 15th and Brooke Willer 16th.

U16 Men: Alexander Wojnowski (HV) finished once again on the podium with a silver medal. Ross Fuller (HV) finished 4th and William Dunn took (HV) 6th.

U21/19/16 athletes will head to Lake Placid, New York for the annual Empire State Games presented by Community Bank. U14 athletes will be off preparing for their speed events. 

U12/10/8 athletes will kick off their season next weekend at Holiday Valley with a Dual Giant Slalom.
