Ellicottville Central School graduate Marissa Hamilton is going dancing again with the University at Buffalo women’s basketball team.
A sophomore forward, Hamilton’s team returned to the NCAA women’s basketball tournament with a second consecutive Mid – American Conference Tournament Championship, defeating Ohio 77-61 in the finals on Saturday in Cleveland.
Last year, the Bulls played their way to the NCAA Sweet 16. They’ll try again on Friday, March 22, at Storrs, Conn. against Rutgers at 4:30 p.m. Seeded 10th, the Bulls (23-9) play the No. 7 Scarlet Knights in a game televised on ESPN2. The winner will likely face perennial powerhouse Connecticut (which plays No. 15 Towson in the first round) on Sunday in the second round.
Hamilton has played in 29 games for the Bulls this season, averaging 3.0 points and 1.3 rebounds in 11.4 minutes. Her season high came on Jan. 23, when she scored 13 points in a win over Akron.
