Rifkin dominates at U16 States

U21/19/16 Athletes traveled to Gore Mountain and West Mountain for their State Championships February 22 through 24. U16s raced separately from the U21/19s and the two venues split the events. 

U21/19s were at West Mountain for the Slalom and Giant Slalom with another Slalom being held at Gore Mountain.

Day 1 Slalom:

Women: Holiday Valley’s Logan Fredrickson and Hayly Fredrickson each took the gold and silver respectively with HoliMont’s Zoe Knauss rounding out the podium with the bronze medal. Kate Masliwec (HO) finished in 10th place. 

Men: Maxxon Solly of HoliMont found himself on top of the podium with the fastest time of the day. Nolan Evans (HV) took 9th, William Peters (HO) 22nd, Dalton Potter (HV) 24th, Connor Galton (HV) 28th and William Assad (HO) 30th.

Day 2 Giant Slalom: 

Women: Hayly Fredrickson (HV) added to her medal count with another 3rd place finish. Kate Masliwec (HO) took 18th. 

Men: Jes Sauereisen (HV) finished with the silver medal. Joshua Allegra (HV) finished 20th, Logan Hubert (HV) 27th, Dalton Potter (HV) 35th, Connor Galton (HV) 40th and William Assad (HO) 43rd. 

Day 3 Slalom: 

Women: Logan Fredrickson (HV) and Hayly Fredrickson (HV) once again were both on the podium finishing 1st and 3rd respectively. 

Men: Dalton Potter (HV) took 26th.

U16 Athletes were at Gore for a Super-G and Giant Slalom and raced at West Mountain for their Slalom. 

Day 1 Super-G:

Women: HoliMont’s Simona Muscarella took 7th, Amanda Arteaga (HO) 16th, Brooklyn Napolitano (HO) 25th, Rory Sauereisen (HV) 29th and Sarah Kelly (HO) 30th. Charleigh Priestman (HO) finished 32nd, Cece Carls (HO) 33rd, Sophia Gambino (HV) 42nd, Brooke Willer (HV) 48th, Megan Kelsch (HO) 49th, Heather Dunlap (HO) 53rd and Evelyn Polly (HV) 54th. 

Men: Laz Rifkin (HV) walked away with the silver medal. Logan Kidd (HO) took 7th, Alexander Wojnowski (HV) 12th, Will Knauss (HO) 13th and William Dunn (HV) 24th. David Rintoul (HO) finished 34th, Ryan Gambrell (HO) 37th and Gabriel Lisowsky (HO) 43rd.

Day 2 Giant Slalom: 

Women: Isabella Stringer (HO) placed 11th, Sophia Gambino (HV) 23rd, Charleigh Priestman (HO) 24th and Brooklyn Napolitano (HO) 30th. Sarah Kelly (HO) took 37th, Rory Sauereisen (HV) 38th and Heather Dunlap (HO) 60th.

Men: Laz Rifkin (HV) improved upon his Super-G result with a gold medal finish. Will Knauss (HO) took 10th, Logan Kidd (HO) 11th, Alexander Wojnowski (HV) 17th, Mitchell Azcarate (HV) 18th, William Dunn (HV) 24th and Gabriel Lisowsky (HO) 38th.

Day 3 Slalom: 

Women: Simona Muscarella (HO) finished 6th, Amanda Arteaga (HO) 26th, Rory Sauereisen (HV) 31st, Cece Carls (HO) 32nd, Molly Basadur (HO) 37th, Brooklyn Napolitano (HO) 40th and Evelyn Polly (HV) 46th.

Men: Laz Rifkin (HV) again found himself the fastest racer on the hill with a 1st place finish. Logan Kidd (HO) took 7th, Alexander Wojnowski (HV) 10th, David Rintoul (HO) 14th, William Dunn (HV) 28th, Ryan Gambrell (HO) 37th and Gabriel Lisowsky (HO) 41st.
