Three hits from Kalib Pierce weren’t enough for the Ellicottville baseball team at Franklinville on Wednesday, April 10, as the Eagles fell to their opponents.
The Panthers won, 12-2, in five innings. Ben Mooney tallied two hits with a double and RBI, and Matt Peters (3), Jake Peters (2) and Nolan Palmatier (2) each drove in multiple runs to power Franklinville. Thirteen bases on balls aided the Panthers’ attack on Wednesday.
Pierce had three of his team’s five hits.
“The walks were kind of the killer for them,” Franklinville coach Reed Mitrowski said. “We were solid on defense and made plays. And when we got a chance, we had a few timely hits and took advantage of having guys on base.”
Winning pitcher Logan Frank went 4 2/3 innings, striking out six batters.
