Make it three straight following a 1-5 start for the Ellicottville baseball team.
Ryan DeKay recorded a pair of doubles and an RBI and the Eagles had their best offensive outing of the season in a 13-7 CCAA II East triumph over North Collins on Monday at home.
Lucas Marsh had a hit and three RBIs and Steven Rowland and Wyatt Chudy both went 2-for-5 and drove in a run for Ellicottville.
Up 1-0 after an inning, coach Chris Mendell’s team exploded for nine runs in the second inning to take command. Ellicottville outhit NC 10-7 while setting a season-high in runs, one more than it had in a season-opening win over Cattaraugus-LV.
“We certainly hit the ball and played very good defense,” Mendell said. “We could’ve had a better day on the mound, but at the end we picked up the ‘W.’”
Ellicottville pitching scattered seven hits, but issued 14 walks. Tony Puckhaber went 2-for-5 with an RBI for North Collins.
