Franklinville/Ellicottville’s Logan Fredrickson took third in the girls pentathlon to lead Big 30 athletes at the CCAA Pentathlon and Steeplechase meet in Randolph.
Fredrickson scored 2,262 points, while Orchard Park’s Genevieve Arnold won with 2,413. Fredrickson totaled 650 points in the 800 run (2:33.50), 454 points in the 100 hurdles (:18.10), 449 points in high jump (1.34 meters), 379 points in long jump (4.30 meters) and 330 points in shot put (6.92 meters). Fredrickson’s twin sister Hayly finished fifth (2,107 points), scoring 605 points in the 800 (2:37.20), 433 points in long jump (4.52), 419 points in high jump (1.31), 405 points in the 100 hurdles (:18.60) and 245 points in shot put (5.58).
Steinbroner wins Super 8 sprints
Franklinville/Ellicottville sophomore Noah Steinbroner won both the 100-meter dash (:11.38) and 200 (:23.31) on Friday at the Super 8 Meet of Champions in Salamanca.
“It’s really fantastic for him,” F/E boys track coach Derek Schunke said. “Last year, he had hip problems and stuff like that, he couldn’t even run, and he came back this year and he’s still a little touchy, so we brought him back easy. He’s had a real successful year for us.”
Also for the F/E boys, Maddox Bush was fifth in the 1,600 (5:03.75), Adrian de Orbe seventh in the 800 (2:09.26), Cyle Livingston seventh in the pole vault (10-feet-0) and the 400 relay (Tyler Oakes, John Yan, Steinbroner, Simon Lin) fifth (:48.48).
For the Titans’ girls team, Janay Ghani was third in the 200 (:26.96). F/E’s Hayly Fredrickson was fourth in the pole vault (9-3) and Logan Fredrickson fourth in the 100 hurdles (:17.15). Mandy Hurlburt was sixth in the 100 hurdles (:17.78) while Meganne Chapman took seventh in the shot put (29-9) and eighth in the discus (77-8). The Titans’ 1,600 relay (Ghani, Logan Fredrickson, Gabby Milligan, Hayly Fredrickson) was fifth (4:21.31).
