Tech Tuesdays to be offered at Ellicottville library

By Louisa Benatovich

Poised to outdo themselves yet again, the Ellicottville Memorial Library is adding another top-of-the-line workshop to its repertoire.

This free four-part series run by dynamic duo Katie Benatovich and Gail Patterson will cater not only to those searching for clarity in Microsoft Office, but also those wishing to educate themselves on how to live a well-balanced, nutritive life.

Beginning July 2, Katie Benatovich began her lessons outlining the basics of four Microsoft Office programs for all wishing to become better-versed in this now-necessary global computer application.

Gail Patterson, a nutrition educator at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, will provide refreshments and facilitate a brief conversation about EFNEP, the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program.

“Our goal is to build on what people already know to make healthy choices within their means,” Patterson said of the program. “We want people to strengthen their knowledge of basic nutrition and provide nutritious meals for their families no matter the circumstance.”

“How does this tie together with technology?” asked Benatovich. “Well, no one can function at high-level, especially not when learning new things, if their minds are not properly nourished.”

“This is the perfect opportunity for individuals of all ages and backgrounds to come together and learn a thing or two,” she continued. “Even if the information does not affect them personally, they could use that knowledge to help someone else in their lives.”

Join these lovely ladies at the Ellicottville Memorial Library on Tuesday, July 9 from 6-7:30pm. This week, they will be taking an in-depth look at the marvelous Microsoft Excel. Don’t worry, Gail’s yummy snacks are guaranteed to help you power through.

Though laptops can be provided by the library, bringing your own is definitely encouraged.

As the weeks progress, participants will become experts in the ever-elusive Microsoft Excel PowerPoint (July 16) and Publisher (July 23).

Come on down to the Ellicottville Memorial Library and join in the fun. Ages 14 and up are welcome.
