Take a break from the winter weather and spend a relaxing evening in Allegany State Park on Saturday for a “By the Fireside” series concert.
This month’s featured performance is by Tyler Calkins. Over a decade ago, this 31-year old singer and songwriter set out to create a sound reflecting the songwriting techniques of the 60’s and 70’s, while also utilizing modern and alternative rock.
In the years since, Tyler’s unique rhythm guitar, piano, harmonica and vocals have made him one of the most sought-after performers in the Southern Tier. Having achieved his master’s degree in music performance from Pennsylvania State University as well as a Ph.D. in Music Education, Tyler’s musical knowledge and songwriting are growing each day.
Backed by his band, Marshmellow Overcoat, Tyler has five albums under his belt in addition to solo and side projects. Marshmellow Overcoat performs most often in Western Pennsylvania and New York state.
This free “By the Fireside” event takes place on Saturday, Jan. 18 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Red House Administration Building lobby.
